Last night around 7 the power went out across the entire campus. I still don’t know what it was, but it stayed that way, and didn’t show any signs of trying to come back on. All we had in the dorm were emergency lights in the hallways and the rooms were pitch black, so we decided to use our laptop batteries to watch The Ring in the dark, switching to the next laptop when one died. Unfortunately the second laptop in the chain sucked too badly to play a DVD so we went up to the lobby where there was a bit of emergency light and played Risk until the power came back on close to midnight.
Then, today the paperwork for my move was set in motion and I now have keys to both rooms and have moved about one third of my stuff over to the new room. In theory I will be completely moved and checked out of my old room by midnight tomorrow. Pictures soon. (And as it turns out, my new roommate does have a good sized fridge, so we might as well return the one just purchased at Lowe’s.)
